“Ust-Kamenogorsk Centralized Library System” Rule.

1. The Electronic catalogue (EC) is a part of the reference and search bodies created to reveal the stocks of the origins according to their contents and to learn about the documents of different spheres kept in the library’s collection.
2. The Electronic catalogue shows the collection of the library’s stocks properly and informs the readers about newarrivings very fast.

3. EC is created by the personal computers connected by the local net in ISIS program and is a part of library and innovation system “IRBIS”.
4. EK functions includes:
• Entering, watching and correcting the full bibliographic descriptions according to the International standard MARK ;
• Search bibliographical descriptions within any fields and texts;
• Printing the catalogue cards;
• Entering, watching and correcting alphabetical subject index (ASI).
5. The Electronic catalogue includes bibliographical descriptions of new arrivals and gives convenient opportunities in searching and selecting the literature.
6. Linguistic providing of EC consists of key words, indexes of LBC which helps to make research.
7. EC shows books, periodicals, СД ROM, video in the Kazakh, Russian and English languages kept in the main stocks of the CCL, CCHL and the branches.
8. EC has machine-readable version of alphabetical subject index (ASI), which helps to reduce literature research and serves as a methodical mechanism for documents systematizing.
9. Besides information about documents and their contents, EC has references about their types, place and cost.
10. Research in EC is conducted according to the document’s character: a number, a title, a key and LBC index.
11. The EC structure is determined by LBC’s charts on the paper .
12. EC has a link with the alphabetical and systematic catalogues.

Catalogue- keeping

1.Systematization of the documents, EC organization, its scientific and technical editing and are conducted by the Acquisition Department.
2.EC is used as in serving the readers as in internal library work .
3. The Acquisition Department is responsible for organizing and completing the whole book collection of the CLS.
